The Role 

 At Matrix Renewables we are looking for a highly motivated individual to play a role in our Operations Team. Based in Italy, the Project Manager must be familiar with all aspects of the design, construction, and commissioning of renewable energy projects (“projects”). 

The Candidate should assist EPC Department in all construction related activities in Italy. During the pre-construction phase, the candidate will collaborate with in-house and external teams to obtain EPC, BOS, site studies and main equipment offers, will be also in charge documentary control and update information of construction projects. During the construction and commissioning phase, the candidate will supervise the performance of the projects according to the Business Plan along with Operations central team at HQ. The Candidate should assist in the ordinary corporate and administrative obligations, liaising with external advisors and assisting to M&A, financing and business development teams when required. 

The candidate should be mature enough to be able to represent Matrix’s interests with the local teams and stakeholders, being confident to proactively defend Matrix even if that position is opposed by the developer or stakeholders. 

 

Key activities and responsibilities: 

Assist Matrix in tracking construction status of projects in its Italian pipeline and updating project documentation in our system with the help of third parties. 

Participating in process on equipment definition and plant design. Continuous updating of state-of-the-art technology and prices. 

Working with EPC Manager to obtain EPC, BOS, Studies, Equipment Procurement and Owner Engineers proposals and support in the technical negotiation of contracts. 

Overseeing all third-party contract execution: EPC, BoS, Equipment Procurement and technical advisors (including prospective project technical due diligence) 

Monitoring construction projects schedule, main construction events and cost and ensuring compliance with Quality Management Plan for the projects 

Support to Develop and Finance Team to fulfill technical requirements during finance project process. 

Overseeing site assessments or environmental studies for projects and H&S issues. 

Management of relationships with landlords and tenants 

Management of community and public relations in respect of the Project 

Implement H&S Policy and site H&S Management Plan which complies with H&S laws, regulations, and best industry practice 

Implement ESG Company policy at local level in compliance with modern standards, regulations, and best industry practice. Flag to HQ any ESG issues as soon as possible, gather information related to them and where instructed interact with stakeholders if appropriate 

 

General Skills / Attributes: 

At least 5 years of relevant experience, ideally with a recordable track record of Renewable Energy portfolio 

Master’s degree in Engineering. 

Full understanding of the design and construction process for renewable energy projects. 

Knowledge of renewable energy plants design, main equipment manufacturers and construction. 

Experience with dealing with contracts along with proven ability to liaise with and manage/monitor contractors 

Experience with dealing with technical authorities in Italy, utilities, Grid operator, off takers. 

Solid communication skills: capability to establish technical discussions in different cultural environments 

Fluent in English and Italian
