Matrix Renewables is a renewable energy platform that was founded by global alternative asset manager TPG through its impact investing platform, The Rise Fund, in 2020. Headquartered in Madrid, Matrix Renewables focuses on developing, constructing and being long-term owners of renewable energy assets. 

Matrix Renewables current portfolio is comprised of 2.3 GW of operational, under construction, or near ready-to-build solar PV projects and a further 7.3 GW pipeline of renewable energy projects under development, across Europe, US and LATAM.

With the backing and support of TPG, Matrix Renewables intends to grow into a multi-GW renewables platform while growing its geographical reach. The US is meant to become a key market for Matrix Renewables in the near future. Matrix Renewables’s US office has opened recently in Miami and will be home for an experienced team of 20+ professionals focused on investments, development, construction and operations management of renewable energy projects. The US is expected to become a core market for Matrix and represent a substantial amount of the group´s global business.

The Role : Analyst / Associate Financing

Matrix Renewables is looking for a highly motivated individual to play a key role in our established team. Based at the Miami office, Matrix Renewables’ analyst / associate of financing will be part of a team that leads the execution of debt financings and related instruments for Matrix´s Investments in the US (project finance, private placements, bond instruments In general, the candidate will support and have responsibilities spanning financial modelling and analysis, deal execution and monitoring of financings. Matrix aims to become a top-notch global solar utility scale developer / IPP within the umbrella of TPG and thus our day to day has a private equity chip. The candidate would find itself in organization that in parallel manages the day to day typical business of a solar PV deloper, the equity of a PE firm and the debt of IG financial institutions.  Key job functions of this position include:

  • Managing typical transaction type admin tasks (agendas, status, Q&A, VDRs etc)
  • Actively monitor financial returns from M&A closings / acquisition of projects to developers through the financial close of debt financings
  • Conducting financial analysis of debt sizing criteria 
  • Participating in the negotiation and execution phase of the project financing process
  • Managing actuals vs budget 

Assisting in the writing of investment papers and memos to support our overall investment process

  • Providing financial skills support to other parts of the business and transaction phases on an ad-hoc basis


General Skills / Attributes

  • Experience: for analysts at least 2 years and for associates at least 3 years, of relevant experience at a top-rated financial institution or IPP (bank, ‘big 4’, buyside and/or corporate-strategic)
  • High level of financial modelling in project finance (particularly in renewables projects)
  • Strong analytical skills 
  • A proactive and highly motivated self-starter with a commercial approach
  • A strong communicator with the ability to deal confidently and build relationships with colleagues, advisors and investors
  • Language abilities: English (core). Spanish (not required, but having capabilities is an asset)
  • Desirable some experience with financing documentation and/or loan management tasks
